Begining Orchestra – Grade 6
- Violin, viola, cello and bass
- Recruitment begins in the spring of the students’ 5th grade year
- The orchestra teachers assess students to match the student with the instrument size that he/she will most likely be successful.
- Instruction begins fall of the 6th grade year
- Lessons occur during the school day
Middle School Orchestra Grades 7-8
- Prerequisite: one year of orchestra for 7th grade. Two years of orchestra for 8th grade or by audition
- Violin, viola, cello and bass
- 7th graders are together and 8th graders are together
- Large group orchestra meets two to three times per week and is part of the students' regular class schedule
- Individual or small group lessons during the day – pull out of classes
- Other ensembles may be available
High School Orchestra Grades 9-12
- Prerequisite: Three years of orchestra or by audition
- Violin, viola, cello and bass
- 9th graders are together.
- Upper-grade orchestras are by audition and/or director approval
- Orchestra class meets two to five times per week, depending on the ensemble and is part of the students' regular class schedule
- Individual or small group lessons during the day – pull out of classes
- Other ensembles may be available
