PK-5 Weather E-Learning Days
Preschool
Preschool students will access and complete a series of preassigned learning activities that will be made available to students in home packets when predicted weather conditions make school closing likely.
St. Cloud Area School District uses E-Learning Days to continue learning from home, for students in grades PK-12, on days when students are not able to learn in person, either due to inclement weather. Teachers will share curriculum-aligned assignments and be accessible by email during regular school hours in order to provide learning support to students.
E-Learning Days are intended to counter the loss of curriculum momentum resulting from school cancellations due to Minnesota’s winter weather conditions. E-Learning Days reduce the need for makeup school days in June.
When are Weather-Related E-Learning Days Used?
The first weather-related closing will be a non-school day. Students will have the day off from school, and it will not be made up. The next five weather-related closings will be shifted to E-Learning Days as long as there is no interruption of power and/or internet service that would interfere with learning. The sixth and seventh weather-related closings will be non-school days and will not be made up. Additional weather-related school closing days and the makeup plan will be determined by the Superintendent in consultation with the School Board.
Early Childhood will be using the district-provided choice boards.
K-5 students will not be using devices for at home learning. All learning will be on district choice boards.
6-12 students will be using their devices for at home learning. All learning will be on student devices.
Attendance
K-5: Students will be counted present if they return their work or choice board to their teacher within five days of the E-Learning Day.
6-12: Students will be counted present if they complete their work in Schoology by 3:15 p.m. on the E-Learning Day. They will have up to five days after the E-Learning Day to complete their work.
*Please be aware: if your child is sick and unable to complete E-Learning Day learning activities, a parent/guardian must still call the school attendance line to report an absence.
